Gravita India Limited has expanded the lead recycling capacity at its existing facility in Mundra, Gujarat, reinforcing its push to scale up sustainable materials processing and meet rising global demand, according to the company's press release. The company states that the Mundra unit’s lead recycling capacity has been increased by 80,300 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). Following the expansion, the plant’s total lead recycling capacity now stands at 145,100 MTPA.
The additional recycling infrastrucure has entailed an ivestment of Rs 49 crore, which has been funded through the company’s internal accruals.
The capacity enhancement forms part of Gravita’s long-term strategy to strengthen its recycling capabilities amid growing domestic and international demand for sustainable lead products. The company expects the expansion to improve operational efficiencies, optimise logistics, and enhance its ability to serve key export markets.
Located near the Mundra port, the facility benefits from logistical advantages in sourcing raw materials and supplying global customers. The company informs that the move further reinforces its commitment to circular economy principles and responsible production of recycled lead.
With the latest addition, Gravita’s total installed recycling capacity has reached 425,959 MTPA. The company currently operates 13 manufacturing facilities worldwide and maintains a presence in more than 70 countries across six business verticals.
