Oman’s Environment Authority (EA) has announced the extension of its suspension on issuing environmental permits for the export of certain waste and scrap materials.

The extended suspension covers all types of used cooking oils, used tyres and batteries, as well as iron, copper and aluminium scrap, in addition to plastic waste.

According to the Authority, the suspension came into effect on January 1, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice. The move forms part of EA’s broader regulatory measures aimed at strengthening the circular economy, improving the efficiency of resource utilisation, and supporting domestic industries.
