Event to be held (21) 22 & 23 January 2016 at The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon, Delhi-NCR, India
The “3rd International Indian Metals Recycling Conference” organised by Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI) in collaboration with FICCI is set to be held on (21) 22 & 23 January 2016 at the hotel The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon, Delhi-NCR, India where around 1000 plus delegates are expected to attend from around the world. MRAI is a national association, representing the interest of India’s ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling industry with over 400 members, including most regional metals trade associations. Their collective strength comprises of over 7000 small, medium and large enterprises, directly and indirectly employing 12 lakh people, according to MRAI.
Across the world, governments are promoting recycling, as it preserves vital natural resources; Controls emissions, and reduces carbon foot print (thus maintaining the ecological balance); Reduces energy consumption, and is highly cost effective; Allows systematic end of life of products / materials, and reformation (thus avoiding the same from being dumped, or ending up in landfills); Provides employments to millions of people and adds to the economic growth of the nation.
The International Scrap Recycling industry is already worth over US$500 billion, directly employing about 2 million people, handling in excess of 600 million tonnes of waste every year. This industry is growing at 17 per cent CAGR, and is viewed as one of the most promising areas for a country’s socio-economic growth. The recycling industry in India is facing several challenges – which are acting as impediments in its growth. Since 65 years of independence, Indian government had not formulated any proper rules, regulations or policies for development of such an important industry, says the organisation.
“If the Indian Metal Recycling Industry realises its full potential, there will be tremendous benefits to the government’s current “Swachh Bharat” and “Make in India” campaigns. In order to have a better understanding of the trade, and the challenges, MRAI in joint association with FICCI is holding its “3rd International Indian Metals Recycling Conference” in January 2016 at the Hotel The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon, Delhi-NCR, where around 1000 plus delegates are expected from the world over, and the conference will promote and unite all the stakeholders and spread awareness about benefits from metal recycling. This conference will also focus on creating policies for growth and development of Indian recycling industry – and allow India to compete at the global level.”
