Veolia and OGE signed a memorandum of understanding to build own and operate a hazardous waste landfill, recycling and incineration plant in Jubail Industrial City. The agreement signed between the two companies recently, which includes industrial and medical waste collection and treatment services, will reach a total investment of $100 million and the preliminary licenses to develop the facilities have already been obtained by OGE and the construction is expected to start by Q1 2017, according to Saudi Gazette.
Veolia will operate the integrated hazardous waste treatment plant that will serve Jubail and the company says its expertise in this area will support the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to comply with their regulations, standards and guidelines to control substances emitted, discharged, and deposited within the industrial cities.
“Partnering with OGE is in line with our commitment to build local alliances to bring a strong and enduring team to deliver this ambitious project,” said Xavier Joseph, Managing Director of Veolia Middle East.
“It’s our pleasure to announce that OGE and Veolia made this partnership, success starts with a vision and successful visions are based on strong pillars. OGE and Veolia partnership is the strongest pillar in our upcoming success in waste management business in KSA,” said Hisham Al Gannas, President of OGE.
