Tadweer Group has deployed 25 Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) across Abu Dhabi in locations including Umm Al Emarat Park, Zayed International Airport, with additional installations planned. It has worked closely with partners including the Ministry of Finance, Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), ADNEC Group, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Khadamat Facilities Management as part of UAE University to launch the collection machines.
The RVMs have a capacity to collect 400 litres of plastic bottles and aluminium can. Alongside the deployment of the RVMs, Tadweer Group also announced the official launch of the Tadweer Rewards application, an initiative aimed at encouraging the community to recycle by earning points that can be redeemed for exciting rewards from a variety of partner merchants. Ollie Lawson, aid, “To reduce waste and promote recycling, we aim to make the process as simple and incentivised as possible. Engaging the community is crucial, and we have rolled out initiatives to encourage public participation. The system simplifies waste collection, sorting, and transfer to partners by providing clean, recyclable materials, making the process more efficient.”
The machine rejects those materials that are not PET and aluminium cans. “Rejected items provide valuable data for system improvement,” he said adding that monitoring rejected materials also helps them understand consumer behaviour. By educating and involving the community, the Group aims to enhance recycling efforts and sustainability.

Under an MoU signed in April, Tadweer Group and ADNEC Group have committed to implementing sustainable practices across various assets and locations, including the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. This collaboration focuses on harnessing the value of waste through advanced solutions such as waste masters and anaerobic digesters, alongside other innovative technologies.
