Tadweer (Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company) announced its new name and brand identity – Tadweer Group – as well as unveiled its new strategy to revolutionise waste management, unlock value from discarded items and set new standards in the circular economy.

According to the statement, since joining ADQ's Energy & Utilities portfolio, Tadweer has focused its efforts on unlocking the value of waste, guided by the belief that waste is a transformative resource. The organisation aims to pioneer advanced technologies, leverage diverse perspectives, and cultivate valuable partnerships to contribute to the UAE’s sustainability goals, working towards its goal of diverting 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste away from landfill by 2030. In addition to its commitment to Abu Dhabi, Tadweer Group has ambitious international goals, striving to make significant contributions to sustainable waste management beyond the UAE.

Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tadweer Group, said: "As we embark on this transformative journey, Tadweer Group is well-positioned to bring innovative thinking and reinforce our commitment to a more sustainable waste management landscape. We believe that waste is not just a challenge to be managed but an opportunity to create a sustainable future for generations to come. Our commitment to unlocking the potential in every discarded item reflects our dedication to pioneering solutions that contribute to a circular economy. By setting new benchmarks and embracing innovation, we aim to encourage society to change their perception of waste and embrace the change the sector is undergoing."

The new strategy and brand builds on Tadweer’s successes of 2023, including agreements with governments including Jordan, Greece, Japan and Uzbekistan, contributing to the UAE’s bilateral relations and laying the foundation for bringing its advanced approach to new markets.

2023 also saw Tadweer launch several projects and partnerships, strengthening its conviction that advanced technology has a key role to play in reaching a sustainable future. Tadweer is helping to develop one of the region’s largest Waste to Energy plants and explore opportunities with emerging technologies such as Waste to Sustainable Aviation Fuel amongst others. Tadweer partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) to launch Waste to Zero at COP28, an initiative to convene the international community to decarbonise the waste management sector.
